Restoring Mangroves Empowering Communities

Over the years, one of the ways we’ve chosen to give back is by supporting mangrove planting initiatives. It’s a simple idea with a powerful impact — rebuild what’s been lost, support local communities, and help create a greener future.

Why Mangroves Matter

Mangroves are more than just trees — they’re life. They protect our shores from erosion, give fish a safe place to breed, and soak up carbon from the atmosphere. Sadly, in many coastal areas, mangroves have been cut down, mostly for charcoal. It’s understandable — for many families, mangrove wood is one of the best sources of fuel for cooking. But this has left large areas bare and vulnerable.

That’s where our CSR work comes in. Instead of simply donating money and walking away, we choose to buy mangrove seedlings from local community groups, mainly women’s groups. These women carefully raise the seedlings in nurseries, then sell them to organizations like ours. Through these purchases, we fund both the restoration of mangrove forests and the livelihoods of the women nurturing them.

How It Helps the Community

The ripple effect of this is beautiful. When these groups receive funds from the seedling sales, they reinvest it into their communities. Many of them set up beehives, harvest honey, and sell it — creating an extra source of income. This money goes towards everyday essentials: supporting their families, putting food on the table, and sending their children to school.

It’s a sustainable cycle: seedlings grow into thriving mangrove forests, the environment heals, and the community thrives alongside it.

Our Ongoing Commitment

We’re proud to be part of this movement. Every mangrove seedling planted represents more than just a tree, it’s a step towards restoring balance between people and nature.

For us at Servemarine, this isn’t a one-off project. It’s a long-term commitment to protecting our coastline, fighting climate change, and empowering the communities that make Kenya’s coast so special.

Together with our partners, we’ll keep planting, nurturing, and growing, one seedling at a time.

Independence day fishing competition sponsored by mazuzee

A Day of Joy and Gratitude

On the sun-kissed shores of Diani, where the turquoise waters meet the golden sands, anglers gathered for the Diani Samaki Classic Fishing Competition on December 9th & 10th 2023. Laughter echoed, fishing lines danced, and the spirit of camaraderie filled the salty air.

The Joy of the Catch

As the sun peeked over the horizon, boats bobbed gently on the Indian Ocean. Anglers, their faces etched with determination, cast their lines into the depths. The thrill of the catch—whether it was a feisty dorado, a silver kingfish, or a cunning barracuda—united everyone. Each tug on the line brought a rush of adrenaline, and the cheers echoed across the waves.

Fishing Competition! Laughter and Stories

Between casts, participants swapped tales of the “one that got away,” the legendary fish that still haunts their dreams. The sunburned noses and wind-tousled hair were badges of honor. As the day wore on, the laughter grew louder. It was more than a competition; it was a celebration of the sea, of life, and of shared moments.

Gratitude to All Participants

Mazuzee sponsored the event with partners like Pulsator, Bob Marlin, servemarine and squidnation, to name a few, made it all possible. We extend our heartfelt gratitude. The independence day fishing competition sponsored by was more than a contest; it was a community coming together, casting their hopes and dreams into the ocean.

A very congratulations to the winners and all who participated

Until Next Time

As the sun dipped below the horizon, boats returned to the harbor. Faces sun-kissed and hearts full, the participants knew they had been part of something special. The trophies and prizes mattered, but the memories—the laughter, the camaraderie, and the thrill of the chase—mattered more. So here’s to Diani, to the shimmering waters, and to the joy of fishing. Until next year, when the tides call us back, we’ll hold these moments close.

Asante Sana to all who made the independence day fishing competition Competition unforgettable.

The Malindi International Fishing Festival 2025

The Malindi International Fishing Festival 2025 took place over two exciting days, October 18th and 19th, at the Malindi Fishing Club — and what a weekend it was! From the early morning launches to the weigh-ins at sunset, the event was packed with energy, laughter, and some seriously impressive catches.

Servemarine was proud to be part of the action once again, this time sponsoring Pulsator and Mazuzee — two brands we stand by both in performance and quality. Watching anglers head out in our gear, using lures we trust, made it all the more special.

A Huge Congratulations to the Winners

A massive shoutout to Mark Allen, who took first place on his own boat Simba after landing a Black Marlin, earning an incredible 764.5 points.

White Mischief came in second with two Sailfish and a Wahoo, and Najel secured third place with a Sailfish and Wahoo combo.

The final scoreboard at the Malindi Fishing Club — Simba leading the pack with the Black Marlin win!

Prize Giving

The prize-giving ceremony was the perfect way to close out the weekend. Servemarine contributed Pulsator and Mazuzee lures, face shields, and our very own Servemarine performance shirts to the winners — a mix of gear made for anglers who live for the ocean.

It was great seeing the winners walk away with high-quality products they’ll actually use out on the water.

Why We Love Being Part of It

For us, it’s never just about fishing — it’s about the community, the shared excitement, and the friendships that come from weekends like this. The Malindi Fishing Festival captures that spirit perfectly, bringing anglers from across Kenya together to celebrate the sport we all love.

A huge thank you to the Malindi Fishing Club for another fantastic event, and to everyone who came out and made it memorable. We’ll definitely be back next year — same spot, same buzz, and hopefully even bigger fish!
